O Little Town of Bethlehem
is the title of the 1989 Rosenthal Studio-Line Christmas Plate, designed by Bjørn Wiinblad, the seventh plate in this Limited Edition series featuring well-known Christmas Carols.  Joseph stands behind Mary who is holding the newborn Jesus as the town’s people gather before them.
Brilliantly colored, with a DEEP cobalt blue background and a LOT of gold decoration on the surface – classic Wiinblad design.  Inscribed “Weihnachten 1989” (Christmas 1989), with the artist’s signature in gold on the front of the plate.  On the back is the name of the series “Christmas Carols on Porcelain” and the title and words to this Christmas Carol, written out in gold in English.  The highest quality porcelain, approximately 11.5 inch (29 cm) in the longest dimension, with pierced foot for a hanging wire.
Bjørn Wiinblad was born in 1918 in Copenhagen and was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. His association with Rosenthal started in 1956 and he has produced ceramic, glass, silver and furniture designs for them. His work is exhibited in museums throughout the world and he has won many medals and awards.
