This collection is only being sold as set of six (6) porcelain coffee or tea mugs manufactured by Rosenthal Classic, Germany.  Each design is based on the detailed black, white and grayscale illustrations of the Italian artist Piero Fornasetti.
Fornasetti began a series called "Tema e Variazioni" (Theme and Variations) in the early ’50’s, with a portrait of Lina Cavalieri. Cavalieri was a beautiful, alluring 19th Century opera singer that Fornasetti first spotted in a magazine. Fornasetti obsessively continued to use her image in his designs, including this series often referred to as the "Julia” collection.
This set comprises of the first six motifs in the "Tema e Variazioni" Collection. Each mug is identified by a series “Mofiv” number.

This series dates from 1995 and has since been discontinued.
Owned by the current owner since 1995, the set is in excellent condition with no signs of scratches, chips or stains.
